Case study: YENOM (The FIQ Project)

Building real-world finance confidence.

We partnered with YENOM to design an interactive, story-driven eLearning course that builds practical financial literacy across diverse communities.

The client

YENOM is a purpose-led organisation founded by Amanda di Medici—vocational trainer and educator with a background in law, business, and adult education. Through partnerships and community programs, YENOM delivers independent financial education that empowers people to take control of their money and improve their wellbeing. From high schools to aged care, their reach spans a wide and diverse audience.

The challenge

Financial literacy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and YENOM saw a clear need for practical support across a range of life circumstances. Whether navigating new financial responsibilities, bouncing back from hardship, or planning for the future, many Australians lack the skills and confidence to manage money effectively. YENOM set out to create a course that could meet learners where they are – accessible, inclusive, and grounded in everyday decisions.

Our approach

We designed a self-paced eLearning module to make financial concepts feel clear, approachable, and relevant. At the heart of the course are four relatable guides – Jaxon, Cleo, Carlos, and Imogen – each representing different life stages and money challenges. Learners follow their stories, helping each character make informed choices and building their own financial confidence along the way.

The course combines:

  • Scenario-based tasks to apply concepts in real-world settings
  • Interactive quizzes and self-assessments, including a money-style profile
  • Budgeting and goal-setting templates for learners to personalise and use
  • Insights into budgeting, credit, goal-setting, financial hardship, and scam awareness

The co-design process was collaborative from the outset. Working closely with Amanda, we reviewed and refined the original content, focusing on clarity, engagement, and inclusivity. Together, we created a learning experience that speaks to a wide audience – supporting reflection, empathy, and informed decision-making.

The outcome

Learners walk away with practical tools and renewed confidence to manage their money. By embedding stories and interactive elements, the course turns financial education into something relatable and actionable – helping participants budget, plan, and take control.

For YENOM, the course has extended their impact, bringing their values and vision to life through high-quality digital learning. It strengthens their reputation as a trusted source of financial education – accessible, empowering, and designed for real people.
